Oregon Trail Ruts, Wyoming




It is fun to think of the treks these folks had to take ...that their wagon wheel trails are still there today. A very eerie feeling. A storm was brewing, We high tailed it out there!! Beth ( :

I'm with you trying to imagine the hardships for folks back in the days of covered wagons and such with wild guides to get them to their destinations.

Oh, I'd love to see the ruts! I just can't imagine how they did it. I've driven through the mountains and just can't fathom how they made it with a team and wagon. Great photos, Beth!

I have read limitless times about deep ruts in ancient Roman roads . . until this very moment, i never considered people doing the same in our national story . . gives me goosebumps just to consider all the people, with their life stories creating the ideal of Freedom . . . . wowzer. hey there!! did you get a bunch done this week? i've been trying to help my parents, my mom hurt her knee / ankle ...no clue what she did, but it is taking some time to get over ...so laundry and such kind of errands, how don't forget this and that, LOL!!... amazing how they have such a routine but dad doesn't seem to know what mom does around there and now that he is having to help out more, he is shocked by all the additional work. Bar U Ranch National Historical Site, Alberta, Canada

"Bar U Ranch" , National Historic Site. Established in 1882, it was huge ranching operation  "even more info here." .  if you know anything about me, you will know I have always wanted to live on a farm, own a farm, have horses, cows, dogs, cats, garden, fields, quiet & peace the whole 9 or is it 10 yards. I want a mountain view like in the movie "Legend of the Fall" .  so when we got the chance to visit this location I really enjoyed seeing how the ranchers came in a took over the whole ranching/cattle business. it was hard work, long hours but if you had the right team you would do just fine. the shot over the campfire is a pot of coffee & hot water. the lady, let me see, i think her name was Greta, that could so be wrong but it is what is popping in my head this moment. she was great at telling the story. these men would all do different jobs. the chef would run with all his team ahead of the folks to set up and get ...

  New River Trail State Park, Virginia "New River Trail State Park is a 57.7 mile rail trail and state park located entirely in southwest VA, extending from the trail's northeastern terminus in Pulaski to its southern terminus in Galax, with a 5.5 mile spur from Fries Junction on the mail trail to Fries" Hey there, we took this trip early Sept 2024 end of August. Look at those gorgeous clouds, such fun days, several of them I could have taken a flannel but didn't and really was chilly at multiple spots on the trails, and when you arrived at the sunny parts I really had a chance to soak in the sun. So warm at those moments. Meet some great folks along the way, chatting about this or that. Meeting biking folks is always fun. There are several restroom stops along the way, no clue how or where they decide to put them but they are there for the important bathroom moments.
