Traveling E ...

  This little day road trip we took late February 2022. Tamworth: Post Office shown in the photo #2 - Muddy Creek Grist Mill & Dam in photo #1, Cumberland County, VA.  Mill: Built between 1785 and 1792.  Post office &  General Store : Built 1792.   In 2019: "Harriet" the film was filmed partly in Tamworth.  We have driven past this area many a time but never turned right into Tamworth ...so we did and checked it out a bit, you can go for tours (the hubs stepped out and took these shots for us, I was driving, so I was in the driver's seat, them got on our way on home, it was a fun time out and about.) ...you can see it more from the road during the winter/fall months without all the leaves. It is always fun to see areas you don't always see ...we had taken this route to arrive at a Lidl and an Aldi ...not sure if you are familiar with those grocery stores? Hillsville Diner, Virginia www.hillsville.com 525 N. Main Street, Hillsville, VA (276) 728-7681 My hubby took a solo trip and went to see this amazing diner. Look at that style, very cool!! He loved the food and really just enjoyed traveling to this area of Virginia. The owner was so talkative and friendly. My hubby always says "What would you suggest I get, I've never been here, I want advice, please." He couldn't get over how kind all the folks were that he met along his journey. Rockfish Post Office, Rockfish, Virginia. Est. 1914. Closed 1974. "Rockfish was frequently referenced in The Waltons, being the closest town to the Waltons Mtn, Severely affected by the flash floods from Hurricane Camille, in 1969." "Q: How do you like your eggs? Me: In a Cake!" Too Cute!! Driving in the country way back in July 2021, we saw this cutie, Had to share. What fun. If you have never been to Pipestem Resort State Park, West Virginia you need to take a trip. Get into your planning books and get to planning. So pretty. So much to be seen... "4,050 acre state park, southern West VA." WOW, got into the works back in Kennedy presidency. That is wild. So happy it does exist. We love WEST VIRGINIA so so much. I don't think I can say one bad word about West VA ...the people are friendly, views are to die for and lots to see and do. We did hike this walk from our campground, so fun.   When in French Lick, Indiana ...we were seeing this huge place ...was hoping for a closer view, at least a good picture of it ...this is what we got and were shocked that they don't realize that some people have no desire to really visit ...they just want a photo??! We can't be the only one who wants to do that, right??! If you wanna know more ... see here "check it out"  . Maybe you have millions and zillions of dollars to use up??!   "Rabbit Hash" Wilbur is the mayor of the town. But you'll never guess what Wilbur is?? He's french bulldog May 2020. This all started in 1998. (Please go look up the dog mayor run, it is really fun to see how long they have been voting in DOGS as the mayor. They are every where in the general store. & yes, I think we saw 4 ...and when someone was visiting with their very own dog, they had to be met ...lots of barking was happening. TOO CUTE!!) Inside shots are taken in the building with the big Coke sign (the general store, if you might be curious??!) We are thinking we were last there in 2015. In 2016 they had a fire ...having to rebuild the EXTIRE general store ...when chatting with the lady there, she said they had taken three similar aged building, piecing them ALL together (not sure you have ever been to a store that has had something similar happen to it or not? But we were just shocked??! Well done to those who worked so well and got it looking so great. ...
