Allerton Park & Retreat Center 515 Old Timber Rd Monticello, Illinois "The Robert Allerton Park is a 1,517-acre park, nature center, and conference center located in the rural Piatt County township of Willow Branch, near Monticello, Illinois on the upper Sangamon River."  hi there, This was an interesting garden to find, we found a couple and did ask if they thought where we were wanting to park was a good spot, it doesn't seem to really matter. A lot of folks walking, enjoy the day, being with family, walking their dogs. Just a nice free spot to enjoy and take in the gorgeous beauty. So so pretty. We noticed a gorgeous hall where they were taking down, what I do imagine many have been a rehearsal dinner, wedding or other such party that happened the night before??! Very neat looking place to have a party or 2? Not that I have that kind of money, but I often wonder what it would be like to have all these pieces of property where y...

August Schell Brewing Company, MN

Image
August "Schell" Brewing Company 1860 Schell's Rd New Ulm, MN "Our story began long before 1860 with a man named August Schell. From his birth, his move to the States, and even co-founding New Ulm. We all start somewhere and Schells' story started right here." If you know anything about Beth, I am not really a drinker ...I'll say I enjoy vodka, but really I don't do it often. I will try it (wine, bourbon, beers, mixed drinks, whatever)...but don't usually enjoy it. We did take a factory tour ... included in that tour would be the grounds, the gorgeous home above, a tasting ...I think like 7 or so type from their different beers. My hubby just drank their root beer ...which was pretty good. My fave was their: Schell's Sangria Red Citrus Lager ...now that was awesome, If i had an occasion where I needed to drink something I might try that again. I thought maybe it was not a real beer?? but it was fruity and good. Che...

New Ulm's Glockenspiel, MN

Image
New Ulm's Glockenspiel 327 N Minnesota St New Ulm, MN I have been raised in a family where clocks are way cool. My Grandfather built clocks, grandfather clocks ...so I know the craftsmanship it takes to go into making a clock ...it take times, energy and true dedication. I felt the clock was not in tune ...and it is so loud ...time slots are 12 NOON, 3 & 5 PM, You will see these little folks come jumping out to do their dance. We got lunch just to see them do their things.Can you imagine living around there, hearing that day after day. I had to laugh. I guess it gives the area character, so that is so neat!! A real German feel .. lots of German restaurants, decor, festivities, etc. Thank you for stopping by. Hope you are well. Take Care. Be Well & Be Blessed!! Beth ( :

National Orphan Train Complex 300 Washington St, Concordia, KS "From 1854 to 1929 an estimated 250,000 orphaned, abandoned, and homeless children were placed throughout the United States and Canada during the Orphan Train Movement. When the orphan train movement began, it was estimated that 30,000 abandoned children were living on the streets of New York City. Charles Loring Brace founded the Children’s Aid Society in order to help these children." hi, If you want more history of this orphan train, please go "here" , because maybe like me you were totally clueless and knew nothing about this? 30,000 ...did you hear that number? Is that not wild, I mean, wow ...whether their parents past do to flu, disease, not be able to take care of them or whatever ...that is just ... wow, what a HUGE number???! I did learn a bit from some our friends in our camping group who had been to the museum already. Saying how emot...

Strataca Kansas Underground Salt Museum

Image
Strataca Kansas Underground Salt Museum 3650 East Avenue G Hutchinson, KS I'll start out with that being underground, I don't mind visiting but I can not imagine doing it for a job ...on the daily? I would really miss the light and seeing the outdoors throughout the day or on breaks. What do you think? & pictures are not that great ...I had to go through and weed out some very blurry views. I hope these will give you a great idea of what you will see and enjoy. Very educational and fun. It was neat ...you do ride an elevator down into the mine ...to me you don't really notice the feeling (you might need to pop your ears, but nothing that dramatic??!) or air until you go back up ...it is like a real blowing affect there. You can feel it and hear it, Very wild!!! The rusty like saw machinery was to cut into the mine wall, I find folks who do this kind of work really are amazing hard working folks ...just so interesting to see. I wou...

We didn't find all of them but they were fun to see, the ones we did walk past. For me I think my faves are the Christmas one, I did get both side of that design. The coffee and telephone horse. Very creative and unique. Hope you did enjoy. Have a great day!! Be Well & Be Blessed!! Beth ( ;
