Golden Beach Campground, NY

Golden Beach Campground, Raquette Lake, New York, 13436. (315)354-4230, Adirondack Park region of New York State. Just a heads up, in case you are thinking let me go camping in New York State, they don't have electric sites ...you do have to be sure to charge your electronic while driving in case you need them every night??! I always have a plan when I leave home that I will read my hand held books, 'cause they are piling up, and for a person who is use to using her kindle at night, 'cause it is lit up by light ... reading at night using a normal book is a way step back. So I tend to read outdoors or when we are camping 'cause that means I have light right on me, not this trip ...so the stack of books will have to wait. LOL! It is a great way to get away and just decompress from life. have a great day. i appreciate your comments. see ya again real soon. Beth ( ;

Little Pine State Park, PA

Image
Little Pine State Park, Pennsylvania, 4205 Little Pine Creek Rd, Waterville, Pennsylvania. 17776, (570)753-6000. Yes, we did in fact look for some little pines? But the ones we did find were all big and tall??! They had a recent terrible storm, you could see some flooding issues, rocks moved and all that silliness that kind of weather does to the land??! and had to re-plant ...sorry don't know the right word to say they had to replace (move) all of their tombstones within the state park ...they are within the campground. I need to investigate those and see how they were placed there, we guessed it had to do with the ones who owned the land at one time? Our kayaking trip was a short one, later evening before the sun went down, like an after dinner mint, lots of bugs but it was fun to see some eagles flying around ...they were too quick. I did get some shots but they are not very clear. have a great day. i appreciate your comments. see ya again real soon. Beth ( ; ...

(sign says): " NESSMUK - The pen name of poet, woods, man, outdoor writer and pioneer conservationist George Washington Sears (1821-1890) a resident of Wellsboro, Pa. From near this spot he wrote the first prose and verse descriptions of the Pine Creek Gorge. " Leonard Harrison State Park, "Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania", Wellsboro, PA. 16901, (570)724-3061, I must say I don't understand why it is called the Grand Canyon of PA? it is a gorgeous area, please don't get me wrong, but it looks nothing like the Grand Canyon. Just Sayin' ??! I am always wondering how folks come up with names for parks, businesses and other places ...we really need to work on that, be more descriptive and to the point. Like we have noticed a lot of just for an example, you have a hotel that is called "Water Lake Views" but it is no even close to a water view or location? It really makes no sense. Mean what you name says please? ( ; have a great day. i...

The Silo, Lewiston, New York

Image
The Silo, 115 N Water St., Lewiston, NY 14092 (716)754-9680 " The Silo Restaurant- History Never Tasted So Good! Our story begins in the 1930’s, back when this area was referred to as the ”Hojack Country.” The waterfront was bustling and alive with tourists visiting by the thousands, traveling  the Great Gorge Railway. The Lewiston Silo was home to the coal that fueled these steamers, and played an important role in housing the fuel that kept the waterfront alive. The waterfront became a hub of great activity, and locals set up stands to sell souvenirs and novelty items to visitors. Sadly, with the demise of the Great Gorge Railway in 1938, the construction of a superhighway to Toronto, and excessive pollution strangling the river, the waterfront activity declined. An ice jam destroyed the terminal and The Silo sat alone, baring witness to the piling of sand dredged from the river bottom and the quiet sounds of pigeons roosting in the top of the decaying superstructur...

Fort Niagara State Park, New York, 1 Scott Ave. Youngstown, NY. 14174, (716)745-7273. if you know anything about Beth, you must know that she loves history, i just wonder why we don't build buildings like we did in the olden days? ones that will hold up, not fall down, with stand the test of time, decades and for years way down the line? i really had fun this day, just seeing the views, the men working there, it was fun to see the interactive side, listen to their stories, see the views and just check out this old fort. i wish i had gotten the lady names at the front desk area, she was just so kind, we told her what time we had, what we wanted out of our visit and she just told us what to see, where to have lunch, what not to miss, i love finding locals like that around. she was just a real peach, so kind. that is a saying, right??! an old friend immediately, loved her!! big thanks to her!! she was awesome!! have a great day. i appreciate your comments. see ya ag...

Chautauqua Institution, 1 Ames Ave. Chautauqua, NY. 14722, "The Chautauqua Institution is a non-profit education center and summer resort for adults & youth located on 750 acres in Chautauqua, New York, 17 miles northwest of Jamestown in the southwestern part of New York State."  we were glad to stop in to this location, when it was during the off season, now i would enjoy being a fly on the wall just to see it when it was totally full, but the man at the front desk said it is nuts!! for me that is enough info. to stay the heck away. Beth doesn't like huge big crowds, pass on that. it is amazing how close the homes are and how u have very little, if any grass or yard?? i love me some country living. don't think i could or would fit in here??! so fun to see all the gorgeous architecture, this is the time that they are allowed to work on their homes and have work trucks everywhere. normally it is very strict no cars or truck anywhere during the on season...
