Pickett CCC Memorial State Park

Image
  Pickett CCC Memorial State Park, 4605 Pickett Park Hwy, Jamestown, TN 38556  Gorgeous state park ...these pics did separate a bit ...but I believe you can tell where they are together ... several of the hikes were roped off from tree damaged ...seems it happened a long time ago ...we were there November 2024, but I am guessing that the repairs are not on their top of the list to get done?? No clue??! Made my hubby miss his Corvette ...there was a group of them visiting the park as well as the 2 of us. The bridge was kind of shaky ...we were walking back to the truck ... and a couple were walking their dogs ...the dog who was leading (their were 2 of them) was scared about the bridge ...I didn't really enjoy the shaking ...glad for steady ground. Thanks for enjoying the views with me. Hope you are well this week. Take Care. Beth ( ;

High Bridge Trail SP, VA

Image
  High Bridge Trail, Farmville, VA "High Bridge Trail State Park, Southside VA converted from a rail line last belonging to Norfolk Southern. opened 2008, most recent extension into the town of Pamplin completed in Spring 2024." length: 166 miles In Sept 2024, end of the month almost the beginning of October ... when the hurricane Helene (if you check out those pics above you can see the high river waters, wild how waters go, just take over the lands, wild times!!!) had just came through, shocked how it really effect the area considering we don't live on the coast, I wouldn't be surprised if the coast was even worse off ...which we knew would be the case ...but it's just amazing how rough it truly was ... lots of rain and wind (which caused accidents, power outages, lots of limbs and trees down, where my parents are, they had local school all messed up, some students were unable to get home because of down trees, the parents were really quite stressed over it all....

New River Trail State Park, VA

  New River Trail State Park, Virginia "New River Trail State Park is a 57.7 mile rail trail and state park located entirely in southwest VA, extending from the trail's northeastern terminus in Pulaski to its southern terminus in Galax, with a 5.5 mile spur from Fries Junction on the mail trail to Fries" Hey there, we took this trip early Sept 2024 end of August. Look at those gorgeous clouds, such fun days, several of them I could have taken a flannel but didn't and really was chilly at multiple spots on the trails, and when you arrived at the sunny parts I really had a chance to soak in the sun. So warm at those moments. Meet some great folks along the way, chatting about this or that. Meeting biking folks is always fun. There are several restroom stops along the way, no clue how or where they decide to put them but they are there for the important bathroom moments. So it wasn't too long ago. ... gorgeous temperatures. 3 total days, didn't take the whole tra...

New River Trail, VA

  "For over 30 years the Jackson Ferry Shot Tower manufactured ammunition for a growing nation. It remains as a token of an era long gone, standing as a symbol of America's industrial sovereignty. English Immigrant Thomas Jackson, came to the US through Baltimore to answer a call from Moses Austin, who was hiring experts in the vocation of mining and lead works. Jackson was an industrialist and experienced miner who brought with him the trade secret of "drop shot" a process that was refined by craftsman William Watts of Bristol, England.  The Shot Tower took over five years to build and was completed in 1807. According to research and tax records it was the first factory to mass-produce shot on American soil. The ammunition produced here was for shotguns, particularly "fowling shot", for the local communities. Manufacturing at the tower ceased in 1839 thus ending it's grandeur as a producer of fine shot." New York State - TWO

Image
  Fair Haven Beach State Park, Cayuga County, NY This gorgeous waterfront state park (have I ever told ya that my best half loves "waterfront", no matter where we stay he is always looking for the best water view, and when we get there and the waterfront is hidden by trees he is heartbroken, i just figure we can walk to the view, oh well, i guess it is all in what you love/like.) but they don't offer "electricity" on that section of camping so that is not gonna to work for us being that we were there for over a week, when you have items that need electricity that is a must. Boy was it amazing ...I bet the sunset/sunrises would be awesome breathtaking!!!! (4 photos above, the bridge is going across to the home and mill, it is a working mill and that's awesome to see that it is still plugging along, and the across the water view, my favorite, it is just breathtaking, I wish kids (or others who don't appreciate it would see this view and just understand how...

Access into the snail's habitat is now very restricted, but it is uncertain whether this species will survive or fade into extinction." ...1842, a paper mill, 2 sawmills, a woolen factory, and a sash factory were located at the falls. ... Violet #60 really enjoyed her visit to this state park with us, we always take traveling sheep with us on each and every journey. So fun to pick a few to go with us.
